No Kids Allowed

I visited the immigration office recently and showed up with my toddler only to be told that they did not allow kids inside while I had my appointment. Mind you I had only been in the office some eight months prior and was allowed in with the baby. No one sent me a memo about the recent changes and I was livid to say the least. I tried to explain to the guy at the desk that my husband was overseas in Iraq and I did not have family in our state to care for the baby but he would hear nothing of it. Don’t these people know that it pays to be lenient at times? Was he trying to imply that my child was a threat to national security? Well I guess I deserved that shabby treatment especially since I loan my husband to the Government to fight for our freedom.

Put Some Groove Back In Your Life

For those music lovers who can’t seem to get enough of the 80’s musical era, there is a podcast that they would appreciate. Called the Groove podcast, the show is hosted by NY’s deejay Suzy Chase. She takes you on a musical journey down memory lane with all the dance and R&B classics that you have come to love. The songs are available for downloading to your I-Pod or MP3 player and you can request your favorite songs if you don’t see it on the playlists that are featured.

Stamp It Up

This week stamps took a hike of two cents and the packages are said to be even higher in cost. The hiked prices they say are supposed to compensate for labor at the postal office. With the advent of Internet and email, you’d think that the people responsible for this price raise would at least drop the price of stamps. Two cents can add up. So, I have no intentions of using the physical mail service on a regular basis, especially for packages. I paid $5.00 to mail a $7.00 print catalog a few weeks ago and my wallet is still trying to get over it.

Childproof? I Don’t Think So

Most medication bottles say childproof and they usually are designed in such a way that to open it you have to do the push and turn routine. I was taking a painkiller couple days ago and my two-year-old wanted to play with the bottle. I gave it to her and I watch to see what she was going to do with it. After all the labeling said child proof, nothing could possibly go wrong. And then too it was a good way to put the claim to a test. Truth be told, after a little doing, my baby was able to open the bottle and twice!! I was amazed. I’m still in awe by that. Can you imagine how many parents leave their medication around thanks to this false advertising? So if you’re a parent and reading this, put the bottles up… way up and away from the kids. They’re figuring this stuff out!!
